Right on schedule, the first Google Tango smartphone has officially been put up for sale.
Lenovo is now taking orders for the Phab 2 Pro, the first consumer Google Tango smartphone. The Phab 2 Pro is available from Lenovo’s website for $499.99, and orders are expected to ship in five to seven business days.
Lenovo also plans to offer a clear case for the Phab 2 Pro that’ll protect the phone while still letting its design show through. This clear case is “coming soon.”
The Phab 2 Pro uses cameras, sensors, and software to enable augmented reality experiences. All of this tech enables the Phab 2 Pro to take 250,000 measurements per second. One of the AR experiences that’ll be available with the Phab 2 Pro comes from Lowe’s and will let you measure spaces and visualize how furniture will look in a room.
When it comes to raw specs, the Phab 2 Pro is a fairly high-end Android 6.0 smartphone. It’s got a 6.4-inch 2560x1440 display with 2.5D curved glass, a 16-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front-facing camera, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage with a microSD slot for adding more storage.
Also included with the Phab 2 Pro is a Snapdragon 652 processor inside the Phab 2 Pro along with three microphones, a fingerprint reader and a 4,050mAh battery with fast charging support.
While the big draw of the Phab 2 Pro is its Google Tango functionality, this Lenovo phone actually looks like it could be a nice Android phone for regular use, too. So long as you don’t mind the ginormous 6.4-inch display, the Phab 2 Pro offers a high-res screen and lots of RAM for a price that’s lower than typical flagship phones.
