If you’re an AT&T customer with an Amazon Echo in your home, your assistant is about to become a bit more useful.
Starting November 18, Amazon’s Echo and Echo Dot will be able to send text messages for AT&T customers. The AT&T Send Message skill will let you tell Alexa to have AT&T text your contact, and then you’ll be able to dictate the message to your Echo device.
You’ll be able to add up to 10 frequent contacts to your AT&T Send Message skill.
Sending texts using just your voice isn’t exactly a new thing, as built-in phone digital assistants like Google Assistant and Siri can do the same thing. This is still a nifty addition to Amazon’s Echo devices, though, because it gives you the ability to shout your text to your Echo if your phone is in the other room. Plus, I’m sure that Echo owners don’t mind that their devices are gaining another skill.
