Google is making a push to convince iOS users to jump ship to Android, and it’s using Google Drive to do it.
Google has added a backup feature to the Google Drive app for iOS that’ll back up your contacts to Google Contacts, your calendar events to Google Calendar, and your photos and videos to Google Photos. You can easily back all of this up by going into Menu > Settings > Backup in the Google Drive app and then selecting “Start Backup”.
Also part of this effort to get iOS folks to switch to Android is a refreshed “Switch to Android” website. This site shows how you can use Google Drive to switch from iOS to Android, complete with images and step-by-step instructions.
You’ve been able to back up stuff like your calendar events and photos to Google services for a while now, but this Google Drive backup aims to make it all easier. By using Drive, you’ll have one spot where you can backup all of your contacts, calendar events, and photos, and you’ll be able to get to that spot quickly.
