December is turning into a big month for Pokémon Go trainers. Following the launch of a ton of new PokéStops and the Apple Watch app, it’s now been announce that a holiday event is kicking off soon.
Pokémon Go developer Niantic today revealed a Holiday 2016 event that’ll help increase trainers’ chances of catching certain Pokémon. From December 25, 2016 through January 3, 2017, PokéStops will award a single-use incubator each day after your first spin. Trainers will also have a greater chance of receiving eggs that hatch Togepi, Pichu, and other new Pokémon during this time.
Festive Pikachu with holiday hats will appear more frequently during this time, too.
That’s not all that’s in store for this holiday event. From December 30 through January 8, the starter Pokémon and their evolutions will appear more in the wild. That means that you’ll have a greater chance to catch Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venusaur, Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise.
Lure Modules will be getting a buff during this time, too, lasting 60 minutes instead of 30 minutes.
While some Pokémon Go trainers may be disappointed that there’s no double XP event for the holidays, the specials that are happening are still pretty nice. Pokémon like Togepi and Pichu as well as the group of starters are all somewhat rare, so this event will give trainers a good opportunity to fill out their Pokédexs and strengthen the Pokémon that they’ve already got.
