Honor is celebrating its third birthday, and the Huawei sub-brand is giving us a gift in the form of a new smartphone.
The Honor Magic is now official, and it sports curved glass on its front and rear. There’s a 5.09-inch 2560x1440 display and an 8-megapixel on its face, and around back there are dual 12-megapixel rear cameras. Also included is an octa-core Kirin 950 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a 2900mAh battery.
On the software side, Honor is touting that the Magic has some special sauce. It’s running Android 6.0 beneath a custom UI that includes the Honor Magic Live system. Honor says that this system will use artificial intelligence anticipate your needs, like if it senses that you’re talking about movies, it could recommend flicks for you to see.
Other features of the Honor Magic include Smart Display, which can proactively retrieve info, like a license plate number if you order a cab. The WiseScreen feature will let you unlock your phone by picking it up and looking at the display, while the FaceCode recognition feature will only display message notifications if the phone recognizes your face.
Finally, the Honor Magic includes Huawei’s Magic Power fast charging system. Honor touts that this tech can recharge 40 percent of the phone’s battery in 10 minutes and 70 percent in 20 minutes.
The Honor Magic is launching in China at a price of ¥3699 ($531 USD).
The Honor Magic’s looks are pretty snazzy, sporting a black paint job with curved glass on both sides. The specs aren’t too bad, either. The star of this show is the Honor Magic Live system, though, which sounds nifty but is something that you’d have to actually try to see how well it performs. Unfortunately, it’s unclear if the Honor Magic will ever get a release outside of China, so only a small group of us will actually get to try the Honor Magic Live system.
What do you think of the Honor Magic?
