Pokémon Go for Apple Watch now available

Pokémon Go Apple Watch app official

After its announcement back in September, Pokémon Go for Apple Watch has arrived.

Pokémon Go developer Niantic today confirmed that its game is now supported by Apple Watch. To get it, you’ll need to update Pokémon Go to version 1.21.2, which is now rolling out in the App Store.

Once you’ve updated, go into the Watch app on your iPhone and scroll down to Pokémon Go. Then tap the “Show App on Apple Watch” toggle and you’re good to go.

So what does Pokémon Go for Apple Watch do? Quite a bit, actually, You can receive notifications about nearby Pokémon and then switch to your iPhone to capture them, receive notifications about nearby PokéStops and collect items from them, and receive notifications when Eggs hatch and medals are rewarded.

You can also use Pokémon Go on Apple Watch to count your distance toward hatching Eggs and receiving Candy for your Buddy Pokémon. And when you log each play session as a workout, the gameplay will count toward the Activity Rings on your Apple Watch.

The arrival of Pokémon Go on Apple Watch is a big deal for anyone playing the game. Now you can keep track of nearby Pokémon and PokéStops without having to keep your phone out all the time (or buying a Pokémon Go Plus), and you can also count your gameplay toward your Activity Rings, which themselves are a whole game to some folks.

Are you playing Pokémon Go? If so, will you give this Apple Watch app a try?
