Nintendo aiming to release two or three mobile games per year

Now that Super Mario Run is on the App Store’s digital shelves, folks are wondering when we might see another mobile game from Nintendo.  The good news is that it looks like there are several more in the works.

Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has revealed that his company plans to launch two or three new mobile games in 2017. That’ll continue past 2017, Kimishima said, meaning that we should continue to see Nintendo on our smartphones for a long while.

Unfortunately, Kimishima didn’t reveal any details about which games Nintendo will be bringing to mobile next. Nintendo has confirmed that mobile games based on the Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing franchises will be coming to mobile, but it’s unclear when they’ll launch.

Nintendo is a well-known company with a lot of big-name properties, so it’s notable that Nintendo is planning to launch so many mobile games. What will be interesting is seeing how they adapt their existing franchises for mobile screens, like how they tweaked the traditional Mario formula into the runner that is Super Mario Run.

Which Nintendo franchises would you like to see come to mobile devices?
