The new Sony Xperia Z3 is already available on T-Mobile and Verizon in the U.S., but if you prefer to get your gadgets straight from the source, you can now do that with the Z3.
The Sony Xperia Z3 is now up for sale in Sony’s official U.S. online store. The phone is unlocked and includes GSM, HSPA and 4G LTE connectivity. If you’d like a full spec refresher on Sony’s new flagship, I’m happy to oblige:
- 5.2-inch 1920x1080 TRILUMINOS display
- 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor
- 20.7-megapixel rear camera with Exmor RS sensor
- 2.2-megapixel front camera
- 3GB of RAM
- 16GB storage
- microSD slot with support for cards up to 128GB
- 4G LTE connectivity
- IP65 and IP68 rated for resistance to dust and water
- 3100mAh battery
- Android 4.4 KitKat
- GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
- HSPA+ 850/900/1700/1900/2100MHz
- 4G LTE bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/13/17/20
This particular Xperia Z3 will play nicely with both AT&T and T-Mobile in the U.S., and since it’s unlocked, all you’ll need to do is pop in your SIM card and go. Since it’s lacking any CDMA support, though, you can’t use this model on Verizon.
Sony is selling the unlocked Xperia Z3 in white, silver green, bronze and black with an asking price of $679.99. Orders are expected to ship on November 10.
Obviously the near-$700 asking price of the unlocked Xperia Z3 means that this model isn’t for everyone, but as I’ve said when Sony has launched unlocked phones in the past, it’s nice that we’ve at least got the option.
