Less than a month after launching Facebook Rooms, its anonymous chat room app, Facebook has unleashed yet another new app unto the mobile world.
Facebook Groups aims to help users easily share and communicate with whatever groups that they may be a part of on Facebook. When you open the app, you’ll be presented with all of the groups that you’re a member of, with your most frequently-accessed groups at the top of the page.
In addition to communicating with your current groups, the Facebook Groups app lets you create new groups on the go, track notifications and change which notifications are sent to you. You can also discover new groups that Facebook thinks that you’ll like based on your current Page likes, your friends’ groups and where you live.
Facebook Groups is available today on Android and iOS. It’s interesting to see Facebook continue to launch new apps, especially when they duplicate functionality that already exists in the main Facebook app. Facebook Groups aims to help you interact with your groups more quickly than the main FB app, though, so if you’re a big Groups user, you might want to check it out. Facebook also notes that you can still use groups in the main Facebook app and on the web if you don’t want a standalone groups app.
You can grab Facebook Groups from the app store links below. If you do download it, be sure to share your first impressions with us!
