HTC has already said that it plans to push Android 5.0 to the One (M7) and One (M8) within 90 days of Google’s release of the final code. That’s a pretty wide open window of time, but now we’ve got a more specific target for the Google Play edition models.
Mo Versi, HTC’s VP of Product Management, has confirmed on Twitter that HTC is targeting “early next week” for its rollout of Android 5.0 to its Google Play edition hardware.
HTC has been quick with its Google Play edition updates in the past, and since the devices run a vanilla build of Android, it’s not too surprising that HTC will be pushing Lollipop to the One (M8) GPe and One (M7) GPe so soon. It’s still exiciting to hear, though, and I’m sure that owners of HTC’s GPe devices are feeling pretty happy about their purchases today.
