Snapchat lets you send ephemeral photos and videos to friends, and recently it added text and video chatting capabilities as well. If you had to guess what it’s next big feature add would be, what would come to mind? Probably not Snapcash.
As its name suggests, Snapcash lets you send money to your friends using Snapchat. The transfer is handled by Square, a company known for its mobile payment offerings, and you can send money by linking your debit card to your Snapchat account. In order to use Snapcash, you’ll need to be in the U.S., be 18 or older and have a debit card.

Once you’ve linked your debit card to your account, you enter a chat with the friend that you want to send money to, then type in the dollar sign and the amount that you want to send.
Snapcash is definitely an interesting new feature from the Snapchat folks, and it’s one that I wouldn’t have guessed that they were working on. Snapchat is big with teenagers and other folks around that age, though, and so some of them might adopt Snapcash as a way to send money without having to install another app on their phone.
Will you be giving Snapcash a try?
