Motorola has shown that it can pull off speedy Android updates in the past, and today it’s proving that it’s still got what it takes to quickly get new treats to its customers.
Motorola says that it’s now rolling Android 5.0 Lollipop updates out to the Moto X (2nd Gen.) Pure Edition, Moto G (2nd Gen.) U.S. GSM and Moto G (2nd Gen.) Global GSM versions sold in the U.S. The updates are rolling out in phases.
As for what’s included, it should come as no surprise that Motorola has stuck to a mostly vanilla build of Android 5.0. Inside the updates, you’ll find a new Material Design look, “Downtime” and “Interruption” settings for determining which notifications you’d like to get and when, Guest Mode, a flashlight in the Quick Settings menu and a new battery saver mode.
Since these updates are rolling out in phases, it may take some time for Lollipop to make its way onto your Moto X or Moto G. Still, Motorola has officially started its public Android 5.0 just a little over a week after the Android 5.0 source code was released. Good work, Motorola.
Be sure to give us a shout when Android 5.0 hits your Moto X or Moto G!
