HTC signs Robinson Cano to 'multi-year' partnership

HTC Robinson Cano partnership

Celebrity endorsements pop up all of the time in mobile. Alicia Keys teamed up with BlackBerry recently, LeBron James backed Samsung and HTC partnered with Robert Downey Jr. Now the HTC crew is back with a new celeb team-up.

HTC has struck an agreement with Robinson Cano, second baseman for Major League Baseball’s Seattle Mariners. The “multi-year” deal was born from Cano and HTC’s shared commitment to personal excellence, HTC says, and Cano’s sportsmanship and mentorship efforts also interested HTC.

"HTC is a natural fit for me because they always want to be the best at what they do. Their products are great for me because I'm always on the road and I need my phone to work as hard as I do,” Cano said of his deal with HTC.

Exactly what will come of this deal remains to be seen, but I’m sure that we’ll start to see Cano appear in HTC marketing in the near future. The agreement will likely get HTC’s name into the sports world some more, and it makes sense for the two parties since Cano plays for the Seattle Mariners, a team that’s near HTC America’s Bellevue, Wash. headquarters.
