Galaxy Note 7 phones in the UK will have their max battery charge limited to 30 percent

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Blue Coral hands-on

Samsung is pushing out updates to disable the Galaxy Note 7 phones in Australia, Canada, and the US this month, but the update that’s going to Note 7s in the UK isn’t quite as severe.

Samsung has announced an update for Galaxy Note 7 phones in the UK that’ll limit the phones’ max charging capacity to 30 percent. This update will begin hitting phones on December 15.

To compare, Note 7 phones are being blocked from mobile networks in countries like Australia and Canada, and phones in the US are losing cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity. Folks in those countries might be frustrated that Note 7 owners in the UK aren’t having their phones disabled, too, but having a phone that’ll only charge up to 30 percent will probably be pretty frustrating to use.

If you’ve still got a Galaxy Note 7, Samsung is urging you to shut the device down and return it.
