Just as expected, the Samsung Gear S is now available in the U.S.
Samsung’s connected smartwatch is being sold by AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and Best Buy right now, with a launch at T-Mobile planned for November 9. Here’s how the pricing for each retailer breaks down:
- AT&T: $199.99 with a two-year contract, $299.99 without. Can be added to Mobile Share plan for $10 per month.
- Sprint: $0 down and 24 payments of $16, or $384 full price. Can be added to Sprint Family Share pack for $10 per month, but Sprint says that it’ll wave that price through December 2015 if the Gear S is added to 20GB or higher plan.
- T-Mobile: $0 down and 24 payments of $14.58 each, full retail price of $349.92. Can be paired with $5 per month plan that includes unlimited talk and text, 500MB of data.
- Verizon: $349.99 with a two-year contract, $399.99 full retail price. Can be added to More Everything plan for $5 per month.
The Samsung Gear S is notable for a couple of reasons. It’s got a big ol’ 2-inch 480x360 AMOLED display and a built-in cellular connection that’ll allow you to make calls, send messages and receive notifications without having a phone nearby. The rest of the Gear S’s spec list includes a dual-core 1GHz processor, 4GB of storage, 512MB of RAM, a 300mAh battery and an IP67-rated body that’s resistant to dust and water.

With its huge (for a wearable) screen and cellular connectivity, the Gear S looks like an interesting wearable. Of course, you’ll need a compatible Samsung device to set the Gear S up and receive updates, but once you do, you can leave your phone at home and still get all of your alerts. Nifty.
Now that the Samsung Gear S has landed in the U.S., are any of you thinking about picking one up?
