HTC’s got a new Android phone, and it comes with Nougat preinstalled.
The HTC Bolt is now available from Sprint. Pricing is set at $0 down and 24 monthly payments of $25 each or $199.99 with a two-year contract. If you’d prefer to avoid any kind of commitment, you can get the HTC Bolt for $600 full price.
HTC and Sprint’s Bolt runs Android 7.0 Nougat on a 5.5-inch 2560x1440 display. It boasts a 16-megapixel rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization, Phase Detection Auto Focus, and a speedy auto focus time of 0.3 seconds. There’s also an 8-megapixel front camera on the Bolt with a wide panorama mode so that you can fit more loved ones into your photos.
Inside of the HTC Bolt’s aluminum unibody shell is an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a microSD slot, and a 3,200mAh battery. There’s also Quick Charge 2.0 support and a fingerprint reader included. However, one feature that’s missing a 3.5mm headphone jack, which means that you’ll be using its USB Type-C port to plug in headphones.
Rounding out the HTC Bolt’s feature set is support for Sprint’s LTE Plus network and 3x20MHz Carrier Aggregation, which offers faster network speeds. Sprint has started to reply 3xCA in markets like Chicago, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Cleveland, and Columbus.
The HTC Bolt looks to be a more affordable version of the HTC 10, offering a similar design and slightly lower-end specs for a cheaper price. The lower price isn’t the only thing working in the Bolt’s favor, though, as it’s also got a larger Quad HD display than its HTC 10 sibling and Android 7.0 out of the box.
