SoftBank, owner of Sprint, pledges to invest $50 billion in US

SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son

SoftBank isn’t a name that we talk about often, but the Japanese company is important to the US mobile industry because it owns Sprint. And today SoftBank’s CEO made a noteworthy announcement in the US.

SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son has agreed to invest $50 billion in the US and to create 50,000 jobs. Details on the investment and jobs haven’t been detailed, but considering that SoftBank owns Sprint, the No. 3 US carrier could benefit from this investment.

Son also commented on the election of Donald Trump. "I just came to celebrate his new job. We were talking about it. Then I said I would like to celebrate his presidential job and commit, because he would do a lot of deregulation,” Son said of President-elect Trump. “I said this is great. The United States would become great again.”
