The latest Android platform distribution stats are in.
Google today published its Android distribution stats for the seven-day period ending on December 5. During that time, 0.4 percent of all Android devices that accessed the Play Store were running Android 7.0 Nougat. That’s up from 0.3 percent in November.
Usage of Android 6.0 Marshmallow grew from November, too, going from 24 percent last month to 26.3 percent in December. Android Lollipop didn’t fare as well, dropping from 34.1 percent in November to 34 percent in December.
Android 4.4 KitKat fell, too, going from 25.2 percent in November to 24 percent December. Android Jelly Bean dropped from 13.7 percent in last month to 12.8 percent this month, and Android Ice Cream Sandwich slipped from 1.3 percent in November to 1.2 percent in December.
Rounding out this month’s report is Android 2.3 Gingerbread slipping from 1.3 percent in November to 1.2 percent in December, and Android 2.2 Froyo continuing to hold strong at 0.1 percent.
Android 7.0 was still only on a handful of devices at the start of December, like the Pixels and Nexuses as well as the LG V20, so it’s not surprising to see that Nougat’s slice of this pie is still small. We have started to see Android 7.0 updates hit more devices in recent days, though, including some LG G5 models, so while Nougat’s distribution won’t be huge next month, it should see some more growth.
