Xiaomi Mi VR headset official, comes with motion controller

In addition to its new Mi Note 2 and Mi Mix, Xiaomi today took the wraps off of its new virtual reality headset.

The Mi VR headset is now official. This device is a step up from the Mi VR Play that was announced last month, offering features like a hardware-level motion sensor. When combined with system-level optimizations and a high-end phone, Xiaomi says that the Mi VR offers 16ms latency.

Included with the Mi VR is a 9-axis inertial motion controller. This controller also includes a couple of buttons and supports touch controls, too.

The Mi VR will launch in China in November at a price of 199 Chinese Yuan ($29 USD). It’s compatible with the Mi Note 2, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, and Mi 5.

Xiaomi’s Mi VR looks like a nice step up from the Mi VR Play that was announced last year. In addition to the motion controller and hardware-level motion sensor, the Mi VR looks to be made of plastic that’s less customizable than the Mi VR Play’s fabric shell, but also likely a bit sturdier. The Mi VR also appears to have padding for your forehead, too.
