Samsung today officially confirmed that a new S Pen-equipped Android tablet is coming to the US.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 will launch in the US on October 28 at a price of $349.99. It’ll be available at “select retailers,” including Samsung itself.
One of the highlight features of the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 is the built-in S Pen. The stylus offers improved pressure sensitivity and has features like the taking notes, the ability to translate and pronounce words that you hover over, and animate a GIF to send to loved ones.
Samsung also touts that the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 includes an anti-glare feature and a blue light filter to make looking at the 10.1-inch 1920x1200 display easier on your eyes.
Other features of the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 include 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, 16GB of storage, and a microSD slot for adding more storage. The tablet is powered by an oct-core Exynos 7870 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 7,300mAh battery, and it runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen a new Samsung tablet with an S Pen in the US, so it’s good to see that the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 will soon make its way stateside. While it may not be the most high-end tablet around, there aren’t a ton of tablets available with their own styluses, so the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 is worth a look if you want a tablet and a stylus that’s well-integrated with the device. The Tab A 10.1 could also be good if you bought a Note 7 and you're having S Pen withdrawals ever since the phone was recalled.
