Google says demand for Pixel phones has exceeded expectations

Google Pixel XL hands-on

Google officially revealed its first smartphones, the Pixel and Pixel XL, earlier this month, and so far the consumer reaction to the devices has been even better than Google expected.

Google says that demand for the Pixels has exceeded its expectations. “We’re thrilled to see the excitement for our new Pixel phones, and frankly pre-order demand has exceeded our expectations,” the company told 9to5Google. “We’re working to restock our inventory as soon as possible.”

Looking at the Google Store, stock of the Pixel and Pixel XL is pretty depleted. Several models are listed as “Out of stock”, including all versions of of the Really Blue phones. The models that are available for purchase are’t expected to ship for another three to four weeks.

The reception to the Google Pixel and Pixel XL seems to be positive so far, and consumers appear to have responded to it well. That’s good news for Google, who is pushing the Pixel phones heavily with a major marketing campaign. Here’s to hoping that Google can catch up to the demand for its Pixel phones so that folks that want to get their hands on one of Google’s first handsets don’t have to wait weeks to do so.
