New LG U Smartphone Looks Just Like the Nexus 5X

When LG decided to focus on the Pixel and Pixel XL, it decided to discontinue its Nexus brand. So when the company unveiled the new LG U in its home country, South Korea, many couldn't help but compare the new device with the Nexus 5X; a smartphone that has become a huge hit.

For starters, the LG U has the same 5.2-inch 1080p display that the Nexus 5X carries. It also has the same dimensions and weight, along with a front that looks pretty much like the Nexus 5X. The two phones also come with the same 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage.

But as far as its similarities, these is probably where it ends for the two devices. The LG U varies from the Nexus 5X since it is powered by a 1.14GHz Octa-Core processor, microSD card support, and a larger 3000 mAh battery. Camera-wise, the LG U steps up from the Nexus 5X since it has a 13-megapixel sensor on the back and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter in front. The LG U also has a glossy rear surface and does not come with a fingerprint scanner unlike the device it is being compared with. There's also the absence of laser auto focus on the LG U.

The LG U is said to be released in South Korea by the end of the month and will be priced at 396,000 Korean Won ($346). The device will be available in black, white, and pink color options. As of this writing, there's still no word on whether or not the LG U will be available in the US or other markets outside its home country.
