Samsung may be known for the curved edge displays that it has on devices like the Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy Note 7, but it’s not the only company with phones that have curved edges.
Xiaomi today introduced the Mi Note 2, a new Android smartphone with dual curved edges on both its front and rear. On the front, there’s a 5.7-inch 1920x1080 flexible OLED display, and the frame of the Mi Note 2 is made of aluminum.
Around back there’s a 22.56-megapixel IMX318 camera with phase detection autofocus and electronic image stabilization, and on the front of the Mi Note 2 is an 8-megapixel camera.
Inside of the Mi Note 2 lives a Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB or 6GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of storage, NFC, and a 4,070mAh battery with fast charging support. Xiaomi also touts that the Mi Note 2 includes global LTE support with a multitude of LTE bands included.
The Mi Note 2 starts at 2799 Chinese Yuan ($413 USD) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model. You can step up to the 6GB + 128GB version for 3299 Chinese Yuan ($487 USD), and the top-end 6GB + 128GB Global model will set you back 3499 Chinese Yuan ($516 USD).
Xiaomi’s new Mi Note 2 looks like a solid device, with a design that’s reminiscent of Samsung’s Galaxy S7 edge. The Mi Note 2 is a bit cheaper than the S7 edge, though, which isn’t too surprising since Xiaomi typically sells its phones at aggressive prices. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that Xiaomi will officially launch the Mi Note 2 in the US, so you’ll have to find another way to buy one if you absolutely must have it.
