We’re now just a couple of weeks away from Huawei’s November 3 event, at which it’s expected that we’ll meet the company’s new flagship smartphones. As with most other unannounced flagships, though, Huawei’s hardware has leaked out ahead of time.
Images of Huawei’s Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro have been shared by serial leaker Evan Blass. Up above is the Mate 9 Pro, which features a dual curved edge display, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S7 edge. The device even appears to have a fingerprint reader below its display, just like the GS7 edge.

Huawei is also said to be prepping a flat-screened version of the Mate 9. besides its non-curved screen, the Mate 9 is also appears to have its fingerprint reader on the back instead of the front.
Both the Mate 9 Pro and Mate 9 are expected to have 5.9-inch displays, Kirin 960 processors, 4GB of RAM, storage options between 64GB and 256GB, and dual rear camera setups like the Huawei P9.
One notable difference between the two phones — besides the curved and flat displays — is that the Mate 9 Pro will reportedly have a 2560x1440 display resolution, while the Mate 9’s will be 1920x1080. Additionally, it’s said that only the Mate 9 Pro will support Google’s Daydream VR platform.
While there may be some complaints that Huawei is aping Samsung’s smartphone strategy by offering flat and curved display versions of its flagship, the move does let consumers choose which type of screen they prefer while keeping most of the other features the same. Unlike Samsung, though, both of Huawei’s phones are the same screen size, and that size may be a bit too large for some folks.
