Following the launch of the HTC Bolt and its three-carrier aggregation support, Sprint has rolled the feature out to more of its devices.
Sprint says that it’s enabled three-carrier aggregation on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, LG V20, and LG G5. Updates for these phones began rolling out last Friday, so if you’ve got one of these six phones on Sprint, you should keep an eye out for a new software update.
The total number of Sprint phones that offer three-carrier aggregation is now at seven. Sprint says that it’s got 13 total three-carrier aggregation-capable devices, but that it hasn’t yet updated the other seven.
With three-carrier aggregation, these phones will be capable of reaching faster data speeds by combining three spectrum bands. In Sprint’s case, it’s using the 800MHz, 1900MHz, and 2.5GHz bands.
One other detail that’s worth noting is that in order to take advantage of this three-carrier aggregation, you’ll need to live in a market when Sprint has enabled it on its network. There are currently 100 markets where Sprint three-carrier aggregation is enabled, including Chicago and Kansas City, with more cities to be added soon.
