The parade of new flagship Android smartphones at MWC 2017 continues with a showing from Huawei.
The Huawei P10 and P10 Plus are now official. The phones take the design of last year’s Huawei P9 and make a few tweaks to it, like moving the fingerprint reader from the back of the phone to the front.
Interestingly, Huawei is also using the fingerprint reader to offer functions similar to the traditional on-screen Android navigation buttons. You can perform the usual nav functions with different taps and swipes on the fingerprint reader.
With the P10 and P10 Plus, Huawei has stuck with the dual rear camera system that it’s used in other recent flagships. The P10 is packing a standard 12-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture as well as a 20-megapixel monochrome camera, and there’s an 8-megapixel shooter around front. And as with the P9, these cameras are Leica-branded.
On the P10 Plus, Huawei has upped the ante by using Summilux-H lenses with a larger f/1.8 aperture.
Other features of the Huawei P10 include a 5.1-inch 1920x1080 display, Kirin 960 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a microSD slot, and a 3200mAh battery. The P10 Plus steps things up with a 5.5-inch 2560x1440 display, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a microSD slot, Kirin 960 processor, and a 3750mAh battery.
Both the P10 and P10 Plus will run Huawei’s custom EMUI 5.1 user interface.
The Huawei P10 and P10 Plus will begin rolling out in March and will be available in Australia, Austria, Chile, China, Columbia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, United Kingdom, and Vietnam. Pricing will start at €649 ($685 USD) for the Huawei P10 and go up to €699 ($738 USD) for the 4GB/64GB Huawei P10 Plus and €799 ($844 USD) for the 6GB/128GB P10 Plus.
The Huawei P10 will be offered in Dazzling Blue and Dazzling Gold color options, which feature Huawei’s “Hyper Diamond-Cut” finish. Also available will be Greenery, Rose Gold, Mystic Silver, Graphite Black, and Prestige Gold with sandblast finishes, and a high gloss Ceramic White model.
