New Nokia Android phones and 'modern' Nokia 3310 rumored for MWC 2017

Nokia 6 official

After debuting the Nokia 6 (shown above) in January, HMD Global may have even more new Nokia phones prepped for a reveal later this month.

HMD Global is planning to announce the Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 at MWC 2017, claims a report from VentureBeat. HMD Global is a Finnish manufacturer that is licensing the Nokia brand and will make smartphones and tablets with the Nokia name for years to come.

As you might’ve guessed from their names, the Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 are both expected to be lower-end than the Nokia 6. The Nokia 5 will reportedly have a 5.2-inch 1280x720 display, 2GB of RAM, and 12-megapixel camera, whereas the Nokia 6 has a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 display, 4GB of RAM, and 16-megapixel camera.

The Nokia 3 is described as being an “entry-level” Android 7.0 device.

Pricing for the Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 is rumored to be €199 and €149, respectively. The Nokia 6 will retail for €249.

One other interesting tidbit included in today’s report is that HMD Global is also said to be cooking up a new Nokia 3310. This popular dumb phone features a candy bar design and has gotten love for its durability and battery life.

HMD Global is reportedly making a "modern version” of the 3310, and while details are light, its price is expected to be set at €59.

It might sound kind of strange to hear that a new Nokia 3310 is in the works, but it could be a smart move for HMD Global and Nokia. There are still new dumb phones being released, including ones that bear the Nokia name, and a new 3310 could be another addition to that market while also tugging at the nostalgia strings for consumers that had the original 3310.
