Looks like another streaming TV service is hiking its rates.
Sony's PlayStation Vue is about to get more expensive. Sony says that starting July 24th — or the billing cycle after July 31st for existing subscribers — the price for all of its plans will increase by $5. Here's what the PlayStation Vue pricing will look like after the price hike:
- Access with "Popular Live TV" for $44.99 per month
- Core with "Sports + Popular Live TV" for $49.99 per month
- Elite with "Movies + Sports + Popular Live TV" for $59.99 per month
- Ultra with "Movies + Sports + Premiums" for $79.99 per month
As for why the price of PS Vue is going up, Sony says that it must increase the price of its service "to keep pace with rising business costs and enable us to continue offering a better way to watch the best in live sports, entertainment, and news."
The news of PlayStation Vue's price increase comes days after AT&T revealed that it was hiking the price of its DirecTV Now streaming TV service. Both Sling TV and YouTube TV both increased the prices of their services by $5, too, so it's no surprise to see Sony following suit with PlayStation Vue. At least PS Vue subscribers are getting almost a month's notice before their price goes up.
