Honor 6X official with dual rear cameras, metal body, and $249.99 price tag

Honor 6X gold official

One year after launching the Honor 5X in the US, Honor is following up by debuted a new smartphone at CES 2017.

The Honor 6X is now official. Like the Honor 5X before it, the Honor 6X is aggressively priced, coming in at $249.99. You can get it for even less if you snag one during a flash sale, during which the Honor 6X will be available for $199.99. There will be four flash sales on January 10, 17, 24, and 31 from 1:00 pm ET to 3:00 pm ET.

One of the highlight features of the Honor 6X is its dual rear camera setup. The main camera is a 12-megapixel shooter, and then there’s a 2-megapixel camera for capturing depth of field. The Honor 6X also touts a speedy 0.3-second focus, Phase Detection Auto Focus, and a variety of photo modes.

Honor is also touting the 6X’s 3,340mAh battery, which it says offers two-day battery life. And then there’s the 6X’s performance, which Honor says is twice as fast as previous generations.

Inside the Honor 6X’s metal body is an octa-core Kirin 655 processor. In the US, the Honor 6X will also include 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage with a microSD slot, while the international models will be available in 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB models, both of which will also include microSD slots.

Rounding out the Honor 6X’s feature set is a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 display, 8-megapixel front-facing camera, rear-mounted fingerprint reader, 3.5mm and microUSB ports, and Android 6.0 running below Honor’s custom EMUI 4.1 user interface.

The Honor 6X will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow, January 4, with a full US launch scheduled for January 10. The device will be available from Honor’s website, Amazon, Best Buy, and Newegg in the US, as well as Vmall and Amazon in Europe.

The 4GB/64GB model will launch in Q1 2017 in “select markets.” Pricing will be set at $299.99 USD/€299 EUR.

The Honor 6X looks like a solid addition to Honor’s affordability-focused lineup. It’s got several premium features, like a metal body, large display, fingerprint reader, and dual rear camera setup, at an aggressive price. It is kind of a disappointment to see that the Honor 6X comes pre-loaded with Android 6.0 and not Android 7.0, so here’s to hoping that Honor can update the 6X shortly after launch.
