There have been several leaks and rumors regarding the LG G6 lately, and today one more has surfaced.
The LG G6 will feature a non-removable battery, according to CNET, which is a big deal because most recent LG flagships have included a removable battery, and they’ve been some of the only recent flagship smartphones to include such a feature. According to today's report, the reason for the switch is because LG is making the G6 water resistance.
Also expected to be included with the LG G6 is a Snapdragon 821 processor. LG chose this model because it “didn’t want to hold up the launch of the device,” says the source of today’s report. If LG had wanted to use the newer Snapdragon 835, it would’ve had to push the G6 back to April.
Other features rumored to be included with the LG G6 are a thin frame, rounded corners on the display, and Google Assistant. The inclusion of Google Assistant is a big deal, as the only other smartphones that currently have that feature are Google’s own Pixel and Pixel XL.
The LG G6 is expected to make its official debut on February 26. The lone image that we’ve seen of the G6 makes it look pretty nice, offering a glass and metal body and slim screen bezels. However, some folks will likely be frustrated if the LG G6 comes to market without a removable battery, as that’s been one standout feature of LG’s flagship phones while other high-end phones have ditched it. The addition of water resistance is probably a good trade for many folks, though, especially since a lot of people are used to non-removable batteries thanks to flagships like the HTC 10, Galaxy S7, Galaxy Note 5 and 7, and Apple’s iPhones.
