If you’ve got an NVIDIA SHIELD TV (2015), you’ve probably been wondering when you’d get an update to enable the new features found on the 2017 model. The answer to that question is that it’s coming today.
NVIDIA says that it’s now pushing the SHIELD Experience 5.0 update to the SHIELD TV (2015). The update is a biggie, bringing with it Android 7.0 Nougat as well as several new features and improvements.
Some of the goodies packed into this update is Amazon Video with 4K HDR support, several new games, the ability to watch live video from Nest Cams, new apps, and more. You can find the full changelog for the update right here.
This is a major update for the NVIDIA SHIELD TV (2015). With the update to Nougat and the new features and improvements that it brings, SHIELD TV (2015) owners are getting many of the same new features included with the SHIELD TV (2017), meaning that they don’t necessarily need to upgrade to the new hardware.
