According to a new beta release, Cortana for Android will soon gain a new trick.
Microsoft will soon enable lock screen support on Cortana for Android. The most recent beta release of the app includes this feature, and when enabled, it lets you access your Cortana info directly from your Android phone’s lock screen.
When you activate Cortana for Android’s lock screen feature, you’ll see a small Cortana ring at the bottom of your lock screen. You can then swipe that ring left or right to access your Cortana panel, complete with all of your updates and the ability to ask the assistant a question.
What’s notable is that this feature won’t totally take over your lock screen. That means that you can continue to use your current lock screen like normal, but you’ll also have quick access to Cortana.
If you use Cortana for Android with any regularity, this lock screen feature should be pretty nifty for you. Not only will it give you easy access to your normal Cortana info, but you can quickly ask Cortana a question. There’s no word on when this feature will make its way from the beta app to the public release, but if you are a Cortana for Android user, you may want to keep an eye out for it in the coming weeks.
