Casio WSD-F20 official with rugged design, Android Wear 2.0

Casio WSD-F20 official Android Wear 2.0

Swarovski isn’t the only traditional watch maker that’s cooking up a new Android Wear smartwatch for 2017.

The Casio WSD-F20 is a rugged device like the WSD-F10 before it, offering a protective bezel and 50m water resistance. There’s also a dual-layer display for switching to a monochrome clock, which will extend the device’s battery life, and a special coating on the display to reduce fingerprints.

As you might expect, the WSD-F20 also includes several features to aid you in your outdoor adventures. There’s a low-power GPS sensor, sensors like an altimeter, barometer, and compass, and support for color maps. You’ll also be able to download these maps for offline use if you’d like.

On the software side, the Casio WSD-F20 runs Android Wear 2.0.

The Casio WSD-F20 is expected to arrive on April 21 in orange and black color options. There’s no word yet on pricing, but don’t be surprised if the WSD-F20 comes in at around $500 just like its predecessor.

With its rugged design and potentially higher price tag, the Casio WSD-F20 isn’t likely to appeal to folks that don’t do outdoorsy things on a regular basis. For anyone that enjoys hiking, camping, and the like, though, the WSD-F20 looks like a solid smartwatch with support for maps and more.
