AT&T customers, it’ll soon be a little more expensive to activate a phone.
AT&T has confirmed that it’s increasing its activation and upgrade fees by $5. That means that you'll pay $25 rather than $20 when you activate or upgrade. AT&T hasn’t said why it’s making the change, with a carrier spokesperson only saying that it’s “making a minor adjustment” to its fees.
The fee increase will take effect tomorrow, January 20.
AT&T’s fee hike comes a couple of weeks after Verizon made a similar move, bumping its upgrade fee up from $25 to $30. While AT&T’s fee increase isn’t a huge one, it still means that you’re going to be forking out more money the next time that you activate or upgrade.
