AirTV Player is a new Android TV box with 4K support, OTA broadcasting add-on

AirTV Player Android TV set-top box

We don’t see a ton of new Android TV devices launched nowadays, but today we’re getting exactly that.

AirTV, a brand owned by Dish, today took the wraps off of its new AirTV Player. This Android TV set-top box comes with Netflix, Sling TV, and YouTube pre-installed, and all three apps have dedicated buttons on the AirTV Player’s remote so that you can access them quickly. Also included is full Google Play Store access for downloading other apps.

The AirTV Player includes dual-band Wi-Fi and 802.11ac/n/a/b/g support, as well as the ability to play 4K content from Netflix or other apps on the Google Play Store.

Also included with the new AirTV Player is a Bluetooth voice remote.

Finally, AirTV will also offer an AirTV Adapter for the AirTV Player that’ll enable the box to get local OTA channels.

The AirTV Player is launching today for $99.99. Also available is a bundle that includes both the AirTV Player and AirTV Adapter for $129.99. That AirTV Adapter will be available on its own at a later date for $39.99.

No matter which way you buy your AirTV Player, you’ll also get a $50 Sling TV credit, which will be available to new and existing Sling TV users.

Dish’s AirTV Player looks like an interesting little box. In addition to offering Netflix, YouTube, and the Google Play Store, the AirTV Player can put all of your entertainment options at one input when you connect the AirTV Adapter for OTA local channels.
