Google Pixel 3 found to include LG OLED display

Google Pixel 3 LG OLED display teardown

Days after confirming that Google switched to a Samsung display for this year's Pixel 3 XL, the maker of the smaller Pixel 3's screen has been confirmed as well.

The Google Pixel 3 includes a screen from LG Display, reports the folks from iFixit. This is a change from last year when the Pixel 2 had a Samsung display and the Pixel 2 XL's screen came from LG.

Following the launch of the Pixel 2 XL last year, many owners complained about the LG-made display, saying things like the display wasn't as vibrant as other OLED panels. Google tried to remedy the situation by adding a "saturated" color option to the Pixel 2 XL's settings, but the phone never really escaped that reputation. Possibly as a result, Google switched to Samsung displays for this year's Pixel 3 XL.

If you've got a Pixel 3 on its way to you, you shouldn't fret. We haven't heard about any display problems from folks who have gotten the Pixel 3 early, so LG Display may have stepped up its game for the panel used in Google's smaller flagship.
