New Amazon Fire TV devices leak, including Alexa-powered cube

Amazon Fire TV 2017 devices leak

New leaks have surfaced that show that Amazon has some fresh Fire TV hardware in the pipeline.

Images that show two new Amazon Fire TV devices have leaked out. The first is a Chromecast-style dongle with an HDMI cable attached. This device will be the mid-tier Fire TV option between the Fire TV stick and the full-on box, says AFTV News.

The new Amazon Fire TV dongle is expected to include a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, Mali-450MP GPU, 2GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage.

Also leaked today is a new Amazon Fire TV cube. Spec details for this device are light, but it’s expected to combine the features of a Fire TV, an Echo Dot, and an IR emitter.

We can see a set of microphones on the top of this Amazon Fire TV cube along with a blue light bar that is the signature indicator of an Amazon Echo device. These details suggest that this unannounced Fire TV cube will indeed include Alexa support, letting you speak to the box to control it. A speaker will let you talk to Alexa even if your TV is off.

The new Fire TV dongle will reportedly be announced in September and launched in October, and AFTV News suggests that its price could be between $60 and $80. The Fire TV cube could also be released sometime this year, but details on its release are still up in the air.
