Moto X Pure Edition now receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update

Moto X Pure Edition hands-on video

We haven’t heard much about the Moto X Pure Edition lately, but that’s changing today, and it’s good news for folks still using the device.

The Moto X Pure Edition appears to be receiving its Android 7.0 Nougat update in the U.S. Several users on Reddit report that they’ve gotten the update, which also includes the September 1, 2017 security patches.

This update includes Nougat goodies like direct replies from your notifications, new and updated emoji, quick switching between your two most recently used apps by double tapping the Recent Apps button, and more. You can find Motorola’s full changelog for the Moto X Pure Edition’s Android 7.0 update right here.

If you’ve got a Moto X Pure Edition in the U.S., you can manually check for this update by going into Settings > About phone > System updates > Yes, I’m in. Keep in mind that these updates can take some time to roll out, so don’t fret if you don’t get it right away.

We’ve known for a year now that the Moto X Pure Edition would be updated to Android 7.0, we just didn’t know when that update would arrive. For example, the changelog for the update was posted back in April, but no update arrived then. It’s finally here now, though, and while Nougat is no longer the latest Android release, it’s still better than nothing for folks still using the Moto X Pure Edition.
