When the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro launched last year, there was a lot of excitement about the device because it was the first consumer Google Tango phone. Unfortunately, we’ve now got some bad news for anyone that bought that device.
Lenovo has revealed that it doesn’t plan to update the Phab 2 Pro or other Phab devices to Android 7.0. That includes the Phab 2 Pro, Phab 2 Plus, Phab 2, Phab Plus, and Phab. The Phab 2 Pro, Phab 2 Plus, and Phab 2 are all running Android 6.0 while the Phab Plus and Phab are on Android 5.0.
It’s always disappointing to hear when a device won’t be getting any more OS updates, but that’s especially true in this case. Not only did the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro launch less than one year ago for $500, but it was a high-profile device because it was the first consumer smartphone with Tango AR support. Unfortunately for those that bought the Phab 2 Pro, it looks like they’ll be stuck on the software that they’re currently running.
Did you ever try the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro or another Phab device?
