Remember the YotaPhone series of devices with secondary E-ink displays? The YotaPhone 2 launched way back at the end of 2014, and nearly three years later, the YotaPhone 3 has been revealed.
The YotaPhone 3 features a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 AMOLED display on its face along with a fingerprint reader below it. Around back is perhaps the most unique feature of the YotaPhone 3, which is a secondary 5.2-inch E-ink display with capacitive navigation buttons.
Other features of the YotaPhone 3 include 13-megapixel rear and 12-megapixel front cameras, 64GB/128GB of built-in storage, a Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB of RAM, and dual SIM slots. The YotaPhone 3 is powered by a 3,300mAh battery and includes USB Type-C port when it comes time to recharge that battery.
On the software side, the YotaPhone 3 runs Android 7.1.1 below the custom YotaOS 3.0 user interface.
Pre-orders for the YotaPhone 3 will begin at JD.com on September 5th, with a full launch scheduled for September 18th. Pricing will start at RUB 21,500/CNY 2,398/$360 USD for the 4GB/64GB model and go up to RUB 27,900/CNY 3,098/ $465 USD for the 4GB/128GB model.
While the YotaPhone series has never really offered super high-end specs, they’ve stood out thanks to their secondary E-ink displays. The YotaPhone 3 continues that trend offering a bigger AMOLED display on one side and a larger E-ink screen on the other. That E-ink screen could come in handy for things like reading long articles or books on the go without having to carry around a second device.
