ZTE Quartz shown in leaked photos with Android Wear 2.0 and a round face

ZTE Quartz smartwatch hands-on photos leak

The ZTE Quartz appears to be following the usual steps of unannounced product leaks. First it was teased by the company itself, then the Quartz appeared in a single leaked product render, and now several hands-on photos of the device have given us a clear look at it.

ZTE’s Quartz is an Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch with a round face. There are tick marks on the bezel and a button on the side. Today’s leak also gives us a look at the plastic charging cradle that the Quartz sits in when it needs some more juice.

When it comes to features, the folks at Android Police say that the ZTE Quartz does not have NFC or a heart rate monitor. There’s no rotating bezel here, either. One feature that is expected to be included with the Quartz is cellular connectivity, though.

There’s no word on when the ZTE Quartz might launch or how much it’ll cost when it does. The only details that ZTE have confirmed about its smartwatch is that it offers cellular connectivity, that it’s launching later in 2017, and that at least one US carrier as agreed to sell it.

We’ll have to wait until we get the ZTE Quartz on our wrists before making any judgments, but it’s disappointing to hear that the device may lack a heart rate monitor for workouts and NFC for Android Pay, a major feature of Android Wear 2.0. Perhaps if the Quartz does lack those features, though, its price will be on the more affordable end of the spectrum.
