T-Mobile Scam ID and Scam Block will help you avoid scammers

T-Mobile Scam ID feature official

Scam calls are annoying, but thanks to new tech from T-Mobile, customers on the magenta carrier will be able to easily avoid them.

T-Mobile today revealed new Scam ID and Scam Block features. The tech behind these features is built into T-Mo’s network, and it can analyze a call and compare it to a database of tens of thousands of scam phone numbers. If a match is found, Scam ID will label the incoming call as “Scam Likely.”

With Scam Block, you can prevent those scam calls from coming to your phone altogether.

Scam ID is starting to roll out to T-Mobile One customers today and will continue hitting them in the coming days. New T-Mobile One customers will automatically get Scam ID starting April 5. Meanwhile, T-Mo customers on other postpaid plans will be able to enable Scam ID on their own starting April 5 by dialing #ONI# (#664#) on their phone.

Scam Block won’t be turned on automatically for customers. If you’d like it enabled on your account, you can dial #ONB# (#662#), and you can turn it off whenever you’d like by dialing #OFB# (#632#). To check whether Scam Block is turned on or off on your account, dial #STS# (#787#).

Scam calls are a problem. Not only are they annoying even if you don’t answer the phone because they distract you from whatever you’re doing for no reason, but some folks end up getting scammed out of their money by these calls. It’s good to see T-Mobile helping to fight these scammers and protect their customers.
