In a surprise announcement, Apple today unleashed a brand new iPhone 7 color option.
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will soon be available in a (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition version. These models will have bright red aluminum backsides that match the other (PRODUCT)RED products that Apple has sold in the past, including an iPhone leather case and an iPod nano.
The new red iPhone 7 is being offered in partnership with the (PRODUCT)RED program, which sees manufacturers sending a contribution from their (RED) products to the Global Fund to help fight HIV/AIDS in Africa. Apple has partnered with (RED) for more than 10 years and contributed more than $130 million.
Apple will begin selling the new red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on Friday, March 24. They’ll be available online and in Apple Stores in 128GB and 256GB models, with pricing set at $749 for the 128GB iPhone 7 and $849 for the 256GB model. The iPhone 7 Plus will start at $869 for the 128GB version and $969 for the 256GB model. Apple says that select carriers will offer the red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, too.
