BlackBerry OS global market share at 0.0 percent, says new report

BlackBerry Passport review

There hasn’t been much in the way of good news for BlackBerry 10 users lately, and that’s not changing with a new Gartner report.

Research firm Gartner today released its latest report on the state of the mobile industry in Q4 2016, including smartphone sales to end users. According to Gartner, BlackBerry OS was running on 207,900 smartphones sold to end users in Q4 2016, giving the OS a worldwide market share of 0.0 percent in Gartner’s chart. The full percentage of BlackBerry’s market share is 0.0481 percent.

BlackBerry OS global market share Q4 2016

To compare, Windows powered 1 million smartphones in Q4 2016 and claimed a market share of 0.3 percent. iOS sold 77 million smartphones and earned a 17.9 percent market share in Q4 2016, and Android was the big winner in the quarter with 352.7 million smartphones sold and a market share of 81.7 percent.

This news about BlackBerry and its 0.0 percent market share isn’t too surprising given that BlackBerry the company hasn’t released any new hardware for quite some time, having made the jump to Android. Still, it’s kind of crazy to see considering that BlackBerry OS was once a major part of the mobile market.

When was the last time that you used a BlackBerry OS smartphone?
