Months after announcing the Mi 8 flagship, Xiaomi has now revealed two variants of the device.
The Mi 8 Pro features many of the same specs as the standard Mi 8. It's got a 6.21-inch 2248x1080 AMOLED display with a notch, a Snapdragon 845 processor, a 20MP front camera, and face unlock. It's got a dual 12MP rear camera setup, too, with a main 12MP wide angle sensor that has OS and an f/1.8 apertuer and a 12MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture.
One of the big changes with the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro is in the display. Specifically, it's got an in-display fingerprint sensor rather than a rear fingerprint scanner like on the Mi 8. This helps to give the Mi 8 Pro a cleaner, better-looking backside.
Other notable tweaks Xiaomi made with the Mi 8 Pro include a version with 8GB of RAM — there's also a 6GB model like the Mi 8 — and a 3000mAh battery, down from the 3400mAh battery found in the Mi 8.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro will launch in China on September 21st in two versions: a 6GB/128GB model for CNY 3199 ($467 USD) and an 8GB/128GB version for CNY 3599 ($525 USD).
Xiaomi today also introduced the Mi 8 Lite. As its name implies, this is a more affordable version of the Mi 8. It packs a 2280x1080 display and a 24MP front-facing camera with AI features like background blur and scene recognition. There's a dual rear camera setup with a 12MP main sensor that has an f/1.9 aperture and a 5MP secondary sensor.
Inside the Mi 8 Lite is a 2.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 660 processor paired with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of built-in storage. There's a 3350mAh battery included, too, along with a USB-C charging port. The Mi 8 Lite also offers a rear fingerprint reader.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite will launch in China on September 25. Pricing will start at CNY 1399 ($204 USD) for the 4GB/64GB model and go up to CNY 1699 ($248 USD) for the 6GB/64GB model. It'll top out at CNY 1999 ($292 USD) for the 6GB/128GB model.
