Android P Developer Preview 3 released by Google

Heads up, Android P beta testers, because a new update is now available for you.

Android P Developer Preview 3 is launching today, and it includes final Android P APIs to help developers test their apps ahead of the public launch of Android P in Q3 2018. The update also likely includes bug fixes and performance improvements as Google continues to polish Android P and get it ready for public consumption.

The update to Android P includes several new features. Google is adding gesture navigation, letting you get around the OS by swiping, as well as official support for display notches. A new digital wellness initiative will help you see how much you've used your phone and set limits on the amount of time you can use certain apps each day.

There's also an App Actions feature that will learn your habits and try to predict what you'd like to do next by placing a shortcut in your app launched. For example, it might offer a shortcut to a Spotify playlist when you plug in your headphones.

Google Pixel owners can get the update over the air by enrolling in the Android Beta Program or by flashing the new image. Other devices that are eligible for the Android P beta will be updated in the coming weeks.
