OnePlus 6 now getting OxygenOS 5.1.7 update with bug fixes

OnePlus 6 owners, you've got another update coming your way.

OnePlus today announced OxygenOS 5.1.7, which is primarily a bug-fixing update. It fixes a schedule setting issue for Do Not Disturb mode and also includes an updated bootloader for better system security.

Earlier this month, it was discovered that the OnePlus 6 had a vulnerability that would allow someone to boot any modified image that would bypass the bootloader protection measures, even if the bootloader is locked. While this requires physical access to the device, it's still a significant vulnerability that would allow someone to have total control over the OnePlus 6 if they knew what they were doing with the vulnerability. The update to OxygenOS 5.1.7 fixes this issue.

This new update will roll out to users incrementally, meaning it'll take several days for all OnePlus 6 owners to see it. If you've got a OnePlus 6, keep an eye out for your update.

One other detail worth mentioning is that OxygenOS 5.1.7 will not be released in India. OnePlus explains that some OnePlus 6 owners in India were having stability issues with OxygenOS 5.1.6, so it's paused that update and is now working on a fix for the problem. The issue should be resolved with OxygenOS 5.1.8, which is expected in the next week and will also include the fixes that are part of OxygenOS 5.1.7.
