Google Chrome for Android can now automatically download articles for offline reading

Google Chrome for Android automatically download articles

It can be frustrating when you find yourself without an internet connection and with nothing to read or do on your phone. A new feature in Google Chrome aims to ensure that that doesn't happen to you again.

Chrome for Android can automatically download articles for you when connected to Wi-Fi, giving you something to read when you're without an internet connection. The articles that it downloads will be chosen based on the content that's most popular in your location, and if you're signed in to Chrome, you'll also get articles that are relevant to you based on your browsing history.

Google says that this new feature is rolling out in India along with more than 100 other countries, including Nigeria, Indonesia, and Brazil.

While you may be able to plan for a time when you'll be without an internet connection by actively downloading articles to read offline, sometimes you may find yourself offline when you didn't plan to be, or you might've just forgotten to save some articles yourself. That's where this new Chrome feature comes in. It sounds like a great addition to Chrome for Android, and it's good to hear that it's rolling out to more than 100 countries around the globe.
