Apple has revealed a logic board issue with the iPhone 8.
The company today revealed its iPhone 8 logic board replacement program, which offers to repair any iPhone 8 affected by the issue free of charge. Apple explains that a "very small percentage" of iPhone 8 models have logic boards with a manufacturing defect. This defect can cause unexpected restarts, a frozen screen, or a device that won't turn on.
This logic board issue affects iPhone 8 models sold between September 2017 and March 2018 in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, New Zealand, and the U.S. It doesn't affect the iPhone 8 Plus. If you believe that your iPhone 8 is affected by this logic board issue, you can go to this webpage to enter your serial number and see if your device qualifies for the program.
The issues caused by this logic board defect sound pretty frustrating, so it's good to hear that Apple has identified the issue and is offering to repair it free for anyone with an affected iPhone 8.
