If you’ve got an NVIDIA Shield Tablet and you’re wondering if you’ll be getting an Oreo treat, well, you can stop wondering.
Manuel Guzman, who works on software QA at NVIDIA, has confirmed that neither the SHIELD Tablet nor the SHIELD Tablet K1 will get an Android Oreo update. He did say that the SHIELD Tablet K1 will soon receive a new update based on Android Nougat, though.
We will be providing an update soon for the SHIELD Tablet K1 based on Android N. Android O is not coming to the ST/ST K1.

It’s always disappointing to learn that your device will no longer receive any OS updates, but this news about the SHIELD Tablet and SHIELD Tablet K1 also isn’t a huge surprise. The original SHIELD Tablet came out in mid-2014 and then the SHIELD Tablet K1 came out in November 2015, which means they got around two years of updates. That’s typically what we see for Android devices nowadays, and that’s what the SHIELD Tablets both got.
